About
Nabilala CDP
Nabilala Community Development Programme is a non-governmental, non-religious, and non-profit Community-Based Organization (CBO). Founded in 2012, it is registered with the Namutumba District Department of Probation and Social Development. The organization aims to “Revitalize Communities” in Namutumba and Iganga districts, promoting improved health and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Empowering Communities With Better Health
The Nabilala Community Development Programme is a grassroots organization in Uganda dedicated to improving healthcare access for impoverished rural children in Nabilala and its neighboring villages.
Recognizing the critical need for local medical services, the organization established the Nabilala Children Health Centre. This facility offers medical care to children from infancy up to 18 years old, addressing prevalent health issues such as malaria and waterborne diseases.
Prior to its establishment, the nearest hospital was 15 kilometers away in Bugiri, leading to preventable fatalities due to delayed medical attention. The health center has significantly reduced child mortality rates in the community.

In 2016, the Nabilala Community Development Programme sought assistance from the Universal Charitable Fund (UCF) to acquire 10 hospital beds for the health center. This initiative aimed to enhance the facility’s capacity to accommodate the growing number of patients, including expectant mothers. With an estimated 500 individuals benefiting annually from these beds, the impact on community health has been substantial.

Further support came from the Kitchen Table Charities Trust, which provided a grant of £11,000 to aid in the construction of the health center. This funding was instrumental in developing the infrastructure necessary to deliver essential medical services to the underserved population of Nabilala and surrounding areas.
